ABOUT THE NARWHAL AND EMPEROR PENGUIN
Narwhals populate the northern Arctic seas bordering the Atlantic ocean. They migrate seasonally from Davis Strait and Baffin Bay in the winter to the eastern Canadian arctic in the summer months. (Finley and Gibb 1982) They live in groups of 2-10 and may assemble with other groups to form herds. (www.arkive.org)

Emperor penguins inhabit the Antarctic peninsula. Little is known about the species and its role in the Antarctic ecosystem due to the inaccessibility of its environment. (Gales et al. 1990) Penguins are the primary avian consumers in their territory due to their physical and population size. (Robertson et al. 1994)

Although the narwhal and the emperor penguin live on opposite ends of the globe, both species consume fish, squid and shrimp as their main food sources. (www.arkive.org)
